Traveling is in my soul, and I’m always inviting people I love to partake in my favorite thing. I had planned a trip to Beatenberg for my mama’s birthday in February, but because she got sick one week before, she couldn’t come and experience such a fabulous trip. Although she was sad, she still encouraged us to go and was happy we could still partake in all the fun that we dedicated to her despite only being there in spirit. We set out on our adventure on Saturday afternoon on February 23rd and arrived in Beatenberg excited for our stay. Beatenberg is less than a three-hour drive from where we live in Echallens, so it wasn’t a really far trip. We arrived at the Dorint Resort Blüemlisalp both excited and eager to start the trip!Once we settled in our room, we went off to take a tour of the hotel and check out the spa. It was amazing, to say the least. It featured a large, heated pool and a beautifully designed wellness center that offers total relaxation, peace and care – everything I was hoping for on this trip.We were so enthralled by the spa that we almost forgot about our dinner reservations at the resort’s restaurant. Luckily, we made it in time and went with the buffet option to be able to try a little bit of everything. Very kind hotel staff was more than happy to satisfy our different wishes. After a delicious dinner, we spent a cozy moment at the resort’s piano bar, which was relaxing and sweet. We finally retired since we knew we had a long day ahead of us in the morning.
The next day, I woke up refreshed and hit the gym to get in a good run on the treadmill. After a nice breakfast and a quick checkout, we took the famous die Niederhornbahn cable car. The Niederhorn was connected to Beatenberg with a cable car in 1946, but in 1997, the 3-cable car system was installed and it’s the only one in Switzerland. Once we arrived in Niederhorn, the elevation was 1963m and provided amazing views of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Plus the Bernese Oberland 4158m views were simply breathtaking! Add in the view of Lake Thun’s sparkle from the valley below and you’ll feel as if Heidi is whispering something in your ear, asking you to come with her. And you’ll want to follow without realizing it because the views are mesmerizingly beautiful!
The region offers tons of summer and winter activities, including countryside walking, touring castles, hiking, paragliding, biking, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, sledging by starlight, winter hiking and so much more. But a few must-see spots include: Niederhorn, St. Beatus Caves, Lake Thun, Jungfrauhoch and Interlaken.
Beatenberg was a beautiful surprise trip and I just wish my mom was well enough to experience such fun and beauty. It really is one of the most amazing places to visit in Switzerland and I highly recommend it!Thanks for taking the time and reading my latest adventure, my muses! I’ll have more fun reads for you soon…
